An assassination attempt against Attorney General Ivan Gershev with a tritol happened this Tuesday in Bulgaria. The media reports that Gershev survived an assassination attempt with about 3 kilograms of tritol.

The chief prosecutor who was the object of the assassination miraculously escaped the explosion that occurred around 11:45, while the explosive substance was placed on the road and exploded when Gershev's car passed, but fortunately no one was injured.

The explosion created a crater three meters in diameter and 30-40 centimeters deep, where fortunately no injuries were reported.

It has not yet been revealed who is hiding behind this assassination attempt, while the authorities are carrying out investigations, including the expertise of the remains left by the explosives.

According to the head of Bulgaria's National Investigation Service, the explosive was placed on a bend near the village of Kovachevtsi.

 "The bomb was not less than 3 kilograms of TNT, according to the preliminary opinion of experts, but also with shrapnel that exploded and hit the trees on the other side of the road. The metal hair we found was the size of a human fingernail ," said Borislav Sarafov, director of the National Investigative Service.

"Our duty is to protect the life and health of Bulgarian citizens and we will do that ," said Petar Todorov, secretary general of the Ministry of the Interior.
