A serious incident has occurred in a family in Vau e Dejës. 68-year-old Gj. H., shot his wife Xh. H., 68, twice with a shotgun, attempting to kill her.

The perpetrator then raped her by punching her in the face and damaging her neck and shoulders with glass.

The perpetrator has been arrested by the police, while his wife has been taken to Shkodra Hospital for treatment.

"The services of the Vau i Dejës Police Commissariat, after receiving notification that a citizen from Vau i Dejës was being transported for medical assistance to the Shkodra hospital after it was suspected that she had been raped by her husband, immediately organized the work to clarify the circumstances, capture and arrest the perpetrator.

In cooperation with the Serious Crimes Sector at the Shkodra Local Police Directorate, citizen Xh. H., 68 years old, resident of the village of Mjeda, was captured and arrested in flagrante delicto for the criminal offense of "Murder due to family relations" which remained an attempt. 

From the initial investigative actions, it is suspected that the 68-year-old, for weak motives (jealousy), shot his wife twice with a double-barreled shotgun to kill her and then punched her in the face and injured her with a cutting tool (glass) in the neck and shoulder area. 

The 61-year-old citizen Gj.H. is under the care of doctors and is out of danger to her life.

A double-barreled shotgun, two cartridges, and 17 shotgun cartridges were seized as material evidence.

"The procedural materials were passed to the Prosecutor's Office for further action ," the police announced.
