They killed the Montenegrin policeman/A mother with 2 Albanian sons is sentenced

Luan, Nure and Lulzim Hasanaj, a mother with two sons, were each sentenced to 40 years in prison in today's session at the High Court of Podgorica for the murder of the policeman Milutin Lekovic.

All three were accused of murder in collaboration, despite the fact that only 43-year-old Luan Hasanaj pulled the trigger.

Lekovic was killed on December 15, 2019, as he had stopped for inspection the vehicle in which the Albanian mother and her two sons were traveling. They had no documents and were trying to cross into Croatia in a place called the Sutorin Plain.

The officer asked them for the documents, but they did not have them and argued. At the moment they were arguing, Luan Hasanaj took out a firearm from a bag he was holding and shot 41-year-old Milutin Lekovic in the head.

The officer was taken to Risan hospital, but did not survive his injuries. Meanwhile, the author escaped with his mother and brother.

Just a few kilometers from the scene of the crime, Luan Hasanaj together with Lulëzim Hasanaj and Nure Hasanaj were stopped by the Montenegrin police, with whom they had an exchange of fire. From the gunshots, the author himself ended up wounded in the hand.
