Nikulaj's murder, Lezha Court leaves Portuguese in prison

Portuguese Ruben Saraiva again requested freedom at the Lezha Court.

Under strict security measures, the court hearing took place this Thursday (April 10), where after hearing the parties, Judge Lurim Bulica rejected the Portuguese's request and decided that he remain in prison.

Ruben Saraiva was extradited to Albania on December 31, 2023, following the decision of the Moroccan Court, which accepted the request of the Albanian authorities.

Since then, he has been in custody in Tirana and is facing Albanian justice on charges of "blood feud murder", committed in collaboration, and "unlicensed possession of weapons", while he has consistently denied any connection to the murder of businessman Ardian Nikulaj in Shëngjin.

Four British citizens who helped him are also accused of the crime, as well as the suspect Edmond Haxhia, as the organizer and orderer of the murder with blood feud motives.
