The US Ambassador in Prishtina, Jeff Hovenier, met today with the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti.

The American diplomat has said that it is an urgent matter to calm down the situation in the north of the Republic and says that the way for this to happen is clear.

According to Hovenier, the three mayors of the northern municipalities should work from alternative facilities and for the Kosovo police to leave the facilities of the municipalities in the north.

He says that the USA sees no reason for the new mayors to stay in the facilities of the northern municipalities and that the presence of the police in the facilities does not contribute to calming the situation.
