"Weapons are being transported in ambulances", as the British MP warned about the attack in the north of Kosovo

On July 4, 2023, British MP Alicia Kearns wrote in a status on the "X" platform that Serbia was supplying weapons to the north of Kosovo.

She specifically said that the weapons were being transported in ambulances and are being hidden inside the Serbian Orthodox Church.

"The government is aware, and our soldiers who have just returned from serving in KFOR, that there is weaponry that is smuggled from the border from Serbia to Orthodox churches in ambulances. When our bodies are aware of this and try to get permission and catch them, the permission is greatly extended. By the time permission is secured 'surprise' – an ambulance showed up at the church and took out all the guns again ,” Kearns wrote.

The MP at that time called to stop all exports to Serbia.

But what happened on the morning of September 24 in Zveçan?

A group of Serbian aggressors attacked the Kosovo Police with firearms and hand grenades. As a result, officer Afrim Bunjaku was killed and another was injured. The shooting continued even after the murder, while the Kosovo Police launched an action to arrest the aggressors.

About 30 Serbian soldiers had marched heavily armed towards the north, attacking the police. Three of them were killed while 6 others were arrested and are expected to appear in court today.

The police seized a number of weapons, ammunition, explosives and armored cars.

Kearns stated on the "X" platform on Monday that the deployment of KFOR troops should be done by a larger group of member states. Also, she stated that an investigation should be launched into the murder of Afrim Bunjak.

Ajo thekson se Qeveria e Serbisë duhet të angazhohet për normalizim të raporteve me Kosovën “dhe t’i japë fund retorikës radikalizuese dhe ndarjeve etnike që nxisin urrejtje”.

“Qeveria e Kosovës duhet të përvijojë përkushtimin e saj për të mbështetur komunitetet serbo-kosovare, duke siguruar përfaqësimin dhe pjesëmarrjen e tyre aktive në demokraci pa ndërhyrje të pajustifikuara të huaja. BE-ja duhet të angazhojë pesë shtetet e BE-së që nuk e njohin sovranitetin e Kosovës për të mbështetur trajektoren e Kosovës drejt anëtarësimit në BE dhe NATO, duke forcuar paprekshmërinë e integritetit të saj territorial.
