Ukrainian MP Oleksiy Gonchaernko has asked President Volodymyr Zelensky to recognize the independence of Kosovo. Ukraine is one of the countries that has not recognized Kosovo, but despite this, official Pristina has condemned the Russian invasion and supported Kiev.

Gonchaernko announced that he sent a petition to Zelensky, while writing on social networks that:

"I sent a petition to the President of Ukraine with the request for the recognition of Kosovo's independence. If the petition gathers 25,000 signatures, the president must respond. Ukraine must now support Kosovo" .

The deputy listed the reasons why the independence of Kosovo should be recognized.

"Russia does not recognize Kosovo and considers these lands as Serbian. At the same time, Kremlin propagandists claim that it is necessary to establish 'the same order as Putin on February 24' in the Balkans. And the representatives of the party of the Serbian president, Aleksandar Vucic, spoke about the 'denazification of the Balkans'. Russia, together with Serbia, is trying to start a war, justifying its actions as a national issue," he writes.
