He asked to visit his sick father in the hospital, the Special explains why

Former Kosovo President Hashim Thaçi, who is being held in custody in The Hague, has not been allowed by the Specialist Prosecutor's Office to visit his sick father in the hospital.

The news was announced by Thaçi's lawyer, Luka MIletić. Meanwhile, the Kosovo Specialist Chambers in The Hague have issued a clarification regarding the rejection of Thaçi's request to visit his father.

According to the Kosovo Specialist Chambers, at the time the request was made, the circumstances of Thaçi’s father were different from those currently being reported in the media.
“The legal framework of the Kosovo Specialist Chambers enables detained persons to make requests for pre-trial detention visits in Kosovo to the competent Panel or Panels of Judges, when there are compelling humanitarian reasons. The relevant judges decide on each such request, based on the information provided at the time the request is made. At the time Mr. Thaçi’s requests were made on 28 January, almost two weeks ago, as reflected in the requests, the circumstances of Mr. Thaçi’s father were different from those currently being reported in the media ,” the Kosovo Specialist Chambers in The Hague said in a response to RTK.
