Kosovo closes a Serbian tax office in North Mitrovica

Kosovo authorities have closed a facility in North Mitrovica, where Serbian parallel structures are suspected to have operated. According to information provided by the deputy director of police for the northern region, Veton Elshani, the facility served as a Serbian tax office and operated illegally on Kosovo territory.

Elshani confirmed that the people who were in the facility have left and that there have been no arrests. He added that a case has been opened and is being investigated for falsification of documents, while the facility will remain closed until the facts are fully verified.

"Around 9 am we entered this building, which according to our information has functioned as a tax office of the Serbian Ministry of Finance. We have encountered evidence that confirms our suspicion and after consulting with the Prosecutor, the people who were there have left and the facility has been closed until the facts can be verified," said Elshani.

This action comes as part of a broader investigation into Serbia's parallel structures in Kosovo, including suspicions of document forgery and violations of Kosovo laws.
