From December 1, citizens of Kosovo will travel without visas to Taiwan

From December 1, citizens of Kosovo will be able to travel without visas to the self-governing island of Taiwan.

This was announced by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora, Kreshnik Ahmeti, who said that the visa-free regime applies to holders of regular, diplomatic or official passports of Kosovo.

"This marks another important step in the international strengthening of Kosovo's passport, where visa-free travel to the Schengen Area, the United Arab Emirates, Thailand, Israel and now Taiwan was made possible only within this governing mandate," wrote Ahmeti on Facebook. .

Ahmeti said that visa-free movement with Taiwan will pave the way for economic partnership, exchanges in the field of education and cultural cooperation.

Taiwan recognized Kosovo's independence in February 2008.

China - which does not recognize Kosovo's independence - claims that Taiwan is part of it and has not ruled out the possibility of using force to one day take control of the island./REL
