The passport of Kosovo "surpasses" 90 places in the Index of the most

After the liberalization of visas by the member states of the Schengen area, the passport of Kosovo has risen to 90 positions in the Passport Index of VisaGuide.World.

Based on the update of this index for the month of January, the passport of Kosovo is now ranked in the 98th place, moving up from the 188th position, where it was last month.

The founder of VisaGuide.World, Besart Bajrami, has considered the movement for 90 positions in this index as a "historic achievement".

"This is a historic achievement for Kosovo, as well as a historic climb to the index of the most powerful passports in the world, which shows that only the EU has the exclusive authority to increase the power of a passport overnight", says Bajrami.

As of January 1, 2024, citizens with biometric passports of Kosovo can travel without visas to 44 countries of the world. In addition, citizens of Kosovo can enter four other countries without a passport, only with an identity card: in Albania, North Macedonia, Montenegro and Serbia.

However, Kosovo citizens need a traditional visa to travel to 97 countries around the world, a visa that is obtained at the border when they plan to visit 32 countries, as well as an e-visa for 33 countries.
In addition, the governments of 16 countries around the world, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Cuba, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Lebanon, Moldova, Russia, Syria, Spain, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Venezuela, have banned the citizens of Kosovo from entering in their territory, because they do not recognize Kosovo as an independent state.

In December 2023, when Kosovo ranked 188th in VisaGuide's Passport Index, its citizens were allowed to visit only 11 countries visa-free and needed traditional visas to travel to a total of 130 countries around the world.

This month, as well as last month, the most powerful passport in the world has been rated that of Spain, followed by that of Germany and Singapore.
