Through social networks, there have been many calls to go to the north of Kosovo, where riots are happening with the Serbian population. The Kosovo Police has called on citizens not to fall prey to provocations.
The authorities emphasize that these calls are aimed at harming Kosovo and the citizens of the Republic of Kosovo.
The announcement of the Kosovo Police:
The Kosovo Police called on citizens to ignore calls to participate in the protest
Pristina, on June 1, 2023
The Kosovo Police is aware that, through different social media, from different people and profiles, they are circulating posts calling on Albanian citizens to participate in an alleged mass protest, today at 12:00, in the South of Mitrovica and with the intention of marching in the North of the country. We would like to clarify that, after evaluations by security institutions, it has been proven that many of these profiles are suspicious and that the posts may be malicious, to the detriment of the citizens and interests of the Republic of Kosovo.
Therefore, the Kosovo Police invites citizens to remain calm and not to fall prey to any alleged organization by unknown persons, but to let the security institutions, the institutions of the Republic of Kosovo handle the situation professionally.
We guarantee the citizens that the institutions of Kosovo in general, and the Kosovo Police in particular, are fully capable and committed to guaranteeing safety, order and tranquility for all citizens without distinction.
We highly appreciate the cooperation and support of the citizens of the Republic of Kosovo, in maintaining peace and stability in the country.
