The murder of Liridona, Osmani: The justice system should toughen the punishments against the perpetrators
The President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, has spoken again about the tragedy of Liridona Ademaj.
At the conference on Information Integrity, organized by the Institute for Democracy (NDI), Osmani emphasized the necessity of toughening the punishments for the perpetrators of women and the non-normalization of violence in society.
"We must persistently fight against the non-normalization of violence. This is a challenge for the whole society", said Osmani.
She added that the justice system in Kosovo must face the shortcomings in addressing the issue of gender-based violence and strengthen the protection mechanisms.
"A number of deficiencies have been identified in the way the chain of institutions functions... it is essential that the punishments of our justice institutions are not such as to encourage the perpetrators," Osmani stressed.
