Headache from the heat? Here are some tips to avoid it

Headaches are not a rare phenomenon and occur eight times more often in hot weather.

In addition to making work and concentration difficult, they are not pleasant at all.

Therapist Polina Shubina explained why our head can hurt a lot when it's hot.

The first cause is high temperature.

"Every organism reacts to heat by dilating blood vessels and resulting in a drop in blood pressure. When blood pressure is too low, enough blood does not reach all parts of the body. As a result, the cells do not receive enough oxygen and nutrients, which can be a trigger for headaches," says Shubina.

Second, in the heat we sweat, we lose important fluids and minerals. Blood flow increases and blood pressure decreases, thus causing headaches in some people.

The large temperature difference between outdoor air and air-conditioned indoor spaces is also a potential trigger for headaches.

If the difference is more than five degrees, it is recommended to wear an extra layer of clothing to keep you warm until your body acclimatises to the lower temperatures.

How to avoid a headache in the heat?

Avoid staying in stuffy places

Wear light and bright materials

If you suffer from high blood pressure, remember to take your medicine

Take a shower with lukewarm water in cold

Avoid being outside between 10:00 and 17:00, when the sun is strongest.
