The longest word in the German language has up to 67 letters

The German language dictionary "Duden" chose the longest word, which has up to 67 letters.

"Grundstucksverkehrsgenehmigungszustandegkeitsubertragungsverordnung" is a German compound word, which can be translated as "rule on the transfer of jurisdiction in the granting of authorization for land transactions".

The shortlist included 15 of the longest German words, which have between 32 and 67 letters, writes Bild.

According to Duden, the five longest German words each have 47, 56, 58 and 67 letters.

The largest number of these words are compounds, which are otherwise a feature of the German language
