The famous Italian designer Roberto Cavalli has passed away

Italian fashion designer Roberto Cavalli has passed away at the age of 83, reports the ANSA news agency.

The Italian came from a family of artists. His penchant for pythons and gorgeous animal prints made him the darling of the international jet set for decades.

Cavalli had a taste for Ferraris, fat cigars and tailored shirts unbuttoned to expose his tanned chest.

He owned a purple helicopter and a Tuscan vineyard, and was on a first-name basis with Hollywood A-listers.

Swedish model Sandra Nilsson, who is 45 years his junior, has been his partner since 2014.

He became a father for the sixth time last year when the couple welcomed a son.

The fashion industry legend explained that they will name the youngster Giorgio, in honor of his father, who was shot by the Nazis during World War II.

Born on November 15, 1940, in Florence, Italy's leading leather processing center, Cavalli was known for his use of embossed leather and stretch denim.

The fashion guru founded the company that bears his name in 1975, quickly becoming known for its animal print designs.

Her creations are loved by wealthy stars, including Kim Kardashian, Lady Gaga and Beyonce.
