After meeting with Balkan leaders, Albin Kurti: Incomplete EU without Balkans,

In a statement to the media, the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, announced his proposal at the Summit and said that the non-recognition of Kosovo by Serbia is also a stumbling block for regional initiatives.

From Tirana, Kurti sent a message to Serbia to recognize its independence and that Serbia should distance itself from the Milosevic regime, stressing that Serbia is holding itself hostage by not recognizing Kosovo's independence.

"Since I was at another conference in Thessaloniki through the zoom from the brigade palace, the various Initiatives bring together the Balkan leaders to bring in the spirit of European integration. In my speech I started by stating that while the 6 EU countries are in Europe, the EU is not Europe without these countries joining. The state of Kosovo is the most pro-European state in Europe and we are determined to implement our reforms.

Regional initiatives are stalling because of Serbia's lack of recognition of Kosovo. Recognition would make countries cooperate more. It is not enough just the common market but for the values of the EU to be placed in the relations between the states. In the end I gave a suggestion on how we can move forward. This is the market deal. To organize joint summits every three years and at the end of this decade to be ready for EU integration. What is most important is for Serbia to recognize Kosovo's independence in order to accept the real actuality. No more min-shengren. That initiative that has been most closely linked to Novi Sad.

It is already an issue being addressed by the Berlin process under a different name and other coordinates. Kosovo and Albania do not need much effort to be coordinated. I do not see any differences in terms of foreign policy. The common regional market is already part of the Berlin process. The Government of Kosovo and that of Albania with the next government will have close communication and common strategies in many areas, not only that of foreign policy. There was a kind of controversy.

Serbia must secede by distancing itself from the Milosevic regime as there is no choice but to recognize Kosovo's independence. Kosovo's independence is not only good for Kosovo but also for Serbia because it is holding itself hostage. 13 years ago, Kosovo declared independence from Serbia. Going from Cefta to Sefta, Sefta is according to the model. This is the right solution by raising our ambitions and regional cooperation ",  said Kurti
