Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, announced through a post on her Instagram page that she had become a grandmother for the first time.

#ProudGrandma (proud grandmother) writes the president of the European Commission in a photo of her and her granddaughter and describes it as a "magic moment".

Von der Leyen did not disclose the name of the child, the exact date of birth or the name of the parents. She only admitted that she was a granddaughter.
