All three athletes have reached the Olympic standard and qualified thanks to their results on the mat. After Zelimkhan Abakarov, who qualified as a World Cup finalist, it was the turn of the European champion, Islam Dudaev, to qualify with the norm.

 The latest to add to the wrestling successes was Chermen Valiev, who is the latest Russian athlete naturalized as an Albanian.
