Survey data: Work has become more digitized for one in two Albanians
According to Visa's latest "New Digital Habits" survey, more than half of respondents feel that their habits have become more digital since the Covid-19 pandemic, and over a third admit that their everyday has become mostly digital. However, for 7% digital still represents something "unknown" as they do not see a difference in their lives before and after the pandemic regarding digital habits. They continue to choose the traditional way of doing things.
For every other interviewee, work was the most affected area of their lives, followed by personal life, including digital payments, e-learning platforms, cooking and cleaning with smart devices (40%). Habits related to entertainment and health are less affected by digital innovations, respectively 3%.
With many services available at the flick of a finger, people's habits have become so digitized that even going to the bank is out of fashion for some. Among the main platforms, half of the respondents state that M-banking is the platform they use the most, streaming platforms are ranked second with a quarter of participants using them, followed by food ordering and delivery apps ( 17%), while only 7% use transport taxi applications.
According to the survey, eight out of 10 respondents agree that speed is the main reason that motivates them to use digital services in their daily lives. When it comes to money, a third of respondents from Albania spend between 15 and 30 USD per month on digital assets. Four in ten spend a little less, $10 to $15, and 22% of respondents spend more than $30 to do things through apps or virtual platforms.
The digital world has significantly changed our daily routine as one in two respondents use online services several times a day, and almost all do it via smartphone - only 7% of respondents use smartwatches as a digital device for to pay bills, to transfer money or any other action.
Based on this survey and experiences with digital innovation, we understand that people in Albania also accept global trends and this is indeed our new digital normal.
