North Macedonian Ministry of Health organizes airlift for those injured in Fire

The Ministry of Health of North Macedonia has announced that air transport is being organized for those who were left seriously injured after a fire broke out at a nightclub in Kocan. So far, dispatches for treatment abroad for several patients who have suffered severe burns are planned.

Five patients will be transported for treatment to Bulgaria, two of whom are from the "St Naum ohrid" Surgery Clinic and three from the University Traumatology Clinic, TOARILUC. Three patients from TOARILUC and six others from the General Hospital "September 8" will be sent to Turkey. To Greece, three patients from TOARILUC have been transported by means of the Institute of Transporting Medicine (IMT), while five patients will be transported to Bulgaria and five to Serbia.

The tragedy in Kocani has killed 59 people and 155 injured, most of whom were burned during a concert by a popular Macedonian band. The incident has shocked the country and prompted the Macedonian government to declare seven days of national mourning. The decision on mourning will be published at the extraordinary session of the North Macedonian Parliament held on Monday afternoon.

The government has also decided to take immediate measures for the urgent inspection of all nights, discothecaries and restaurants that host parties, to prevent similar events in the future.
