American Professor: Appeasement of Serbia does not work, the US should be more determined towards Vucic's ambitions
The American professor Daniel Serwer has commented on the recent measures of the Serbian president Aleksandar Vucic against Kosovo, according to which they intend to undermine the independence of Kosovo.
However, the American Embassy in Belgrade continues to express optimism that he is still on the road to Serbia's western integration.
For this reason, Serwer emphasized the need for a clearer and more coherent approach from the US.
"The long-term objectives of the US in the Balkans must be clear: democratic governance and sovereignty without threats of force, " he said.
According to Serwer, the current US policy is incoherent and contradicts its long-term goals in the region.
Regarding developments in Kosovo, Serwer pointed out that Prime Minister Albin Kurti, although he is on the side of the West, often acts without consulting the USA and the EU.
"Kurti is aligned with the West, but he should show more care in his actions so as not to irritate Kosovo Serbs and Belgrade," Serwer said.
