The Government of North Macedonia has started today's session with a minute's silence in honour of the victims of the tragedy that occurred at a nightclub in Kocani, where 59 young people lost their lives and over 100 people were hospitalized. Following the tragic event, the government declared seven days of national mourning and called for respect for this decision, warning of severe penalties for those who do not respect it.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will open the book of condolences to express solidarity with the families of the victims, while the State Market Inspectorate is tasked with carrying out an extraordinary inspection of all hotel facilities, including cabarets and nightclubs, to assess security conditions in these premises.

The government session also approved the activation of the mechanism for seeking international assistance, while the authorities are gathering material evidence and investigating all those involved in this tragic event. The government has called for this case not to be politicized and has guaranteed transparency in the full disclosure of the event.

In conclusion, the government expressed its deepest condolences to the families of the victims and stressed that the health team is available to provide the necessary care to the injured.
