Former SP minister calls on Rama: Time to leave, you can no longer do anything

The former Minister of Finance has commented on the recent protests in the country demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama.

Invited to A2 CNN, Malaj said that the decision to stay or leave is up to the prime minister, but stressed that the insistence on continuing in office is leading the government towards an increasingly authoritarian model. According to him, such an approach risks "neo-dictatorial" practices.

He further added that, according to him, history shows that leaders who stay in power for a long time have not ended well and that the prime minister should step down from leading the country.

"It's time for him to leave. He can no longer do anything good for Albania. This climate of social division, tensions between Albanians, between political parties and different groups do not serve the country," Malaj said. 

Malaj also stated that the current political situation is deepening social divisions and tensions between different groups in society, emphasizing that this climate does not serve the country's development.
