Police provide details from the arrest of Moisi Habilaj in Borsh: How the drug

Moisi Habilaj, one of the most well-known names in the international drug trafficking files between Albania and Italy, has been arrested in Borsh with the aim of extradition to the Italian state.

The Vlora Police announced that the arrest was carried out as part of the operation codenamed "Methods", conducted in cooperation with the Special Operations Force. According to the authorities, the 48-year-old was located in a bar in Borsh after an investigative work and the use of special investigation methods.

Habilaj was sentenced by the Court of Catania to 12 years, 2 months and 13 days in prison for participation in an armed criminal organization for the purpose of drug trafficking. He was also sentenced to the security measure "Arrest in prison", previously imposed by the Court of Serious Crimes in Albania for the criminal offenses of drug trafficking and sale, as well as participation in a structured criminal group.

During the operation, the police also arrested citizen EA, 46 years old, resident of Saranda, while proceeding at large a 70-year-old Italian citizen, suspected of the criminal offense of "Supporting the perpetrator of a crime".

Habilaj's arrest brings back to attention one of the most sensational cases of recent years, which had wide resonance in both Albania and Italy due to the criminal group's suspected activity in international drug trafficking.
