Eglant Koç's disappearance, police: A special structure is dealing

Tirana Police Director, Oligert Torba, during a media conference also focused on the disappearance of Eglant Koçi, who is suspected of being executed a few days ago by his friend.

He stated that this case is being pursued by Serious Crimes and that the searches are focused on the outskirts of Tirana, on the border with Elbasan.

"As for the disappearance of Englant Koçi, a rather sensitive event, a special investigative group has been set up on our part. The evidence has been obtained from the family members of the suspect, the missing person. The investigation is being followed by the Serious Crimes Structure.

There is a special structure that is searching for his body, the searches are mainly focused on the outskirts of Tirana, between the border separating Elbasan and the State. In addition to our forces, the KSF has also come to our aid. The search continues, so far we have not had a concrete result.

"Many areas where we had our suspicions have been checked, we have no results," said Police Director Oliger Torba.

Armand Shakaj, wanted as a suspected perpetrator of the disappearance of Eglant Koçi, is suspected of having used a cart to transport his vehicle, inside which it is believed the body of the 34-year-old was also located, towards the Iba area.

According to investigators, this maneuver was carried out to avoid routine police checks and to avoid arousing suspicion while the vehicle was moving. The incident is suspected to have occurred on June 6.

Security camera verifications show that Koç's body may have been kept in the vehicle for about a day and a half, as his last contact with family members was on June 4.

The police have identified and questioned the driver of the truck. According to his testimony, Shakaj's vehicle was transported to a service station in the Iba area, after the latter had told him that the car had suffered a defect. The witness stated that after delivering the vehicle, he left and had no idea what could be inside it. Meanwhile, in the office premises where Eglant Koçi is suspected of being held, experts have found traces of gunpowder residue.

The investigation team is awaiting the results of the laboratory expertise, which is expected to shed more light on the circumstances of the incident. For several days, the police have been conducting intensive searches in two main directions, finding the body of Eglant Koçi in the areas around Tirana, Elbasan and Librazhd, as well as locating and arresting Armand Shakaj, who remains at large.

Reliable sources indicate that the 41-year-old has changed at least six phone numbers in recent days, in a continued effort to avoid being located by law enforcement.
