US Congressman welcomes Berisha's decision: Now, I can't wait to

The co-chair of the bipartisan Caucus on Albanian Affairs in the US Congress, Robert Aderholt, has reacted to the decision of President Donald Trump's administration to lift the persona non grata against Albanian opposition leader, Sali Berisha.

Through a post on social media, the Republican congressman described the decision as the result of careful and evidence-based consideration, while emphasizing that the United States respects the sovereignty of allied countries and the right of citizens to determine the outcome of their own elections.

"As Co-Chair of the Albania Caucus, I commend President Trump and Secretary Rubio for conducting a serious and evidence-based review of actions taken during the previous administration that raised concerns about efforts to silence political voices in Albania.

"The State Department has sent a clear message to our allies: The United States respects the sovereignty of nations and trusts voters to determine the outcomes of their elections. A strong and democratic Albania is a vital partner for the United States in the Western Balkans, and I look forward to strengthening this partnership in the years ahead ," he wrote.
