German media ZDF echoes the protests in Tirana: Pressure is increasing on the

Protests against the Rama government are increasingly attracting international media attention.

German public media outlet ZDF has dedicated an article to developments in Albania, reporting on the mobilization of thousands of citizens in Tirana and their opposition to an investment related to the company of Jared Kushner, son-in-law of US President Donald Trump.

According to ZDF, the protests are intensifying day by day, as citizens accuse the government of favoring private interests in an area of particular environmental importance on the Adriatic coast. On the other hand, Prime Minister Edi Rama has denied the government's involvement in the deal, insisting that the project is a private initiative and will continue despite opposition.

ZDFheute article:

Protests in Albania escalate, thousands of citizens in Tirana against the project on the Adriatic coast

Protests continue to grow in Albania. On Saturday, thousands of citizens gathered again in Tirana to protest against a planned construction project on the Adriatic coast. Almost every day, dozens of citizens protest in front of the Prime Minister's Office.

The project being protested also includes a company linked to US President Donald Trump's son-in-law, Jared Kushner.

Protesters accuse Prime Minister Edi Rama of opening up an ecologically sensitive stretch of coastline to investors. For his part, Prime Minister Rama has described the project as a private agreement between private parties, stressing that the Albanian government “has no connection” to it. However, he has declared that the project will go ahead, dismissing the objections.

According to him, no formal procedure for environmental impact assessment has been initiated yet, a statement he made in an interview with the AP news agency.

Meanwhile, Albanian anti-corruption authorities have launched investigations and have so far requested 20 arrest warrants. Some of them are suspected of being linked to a construction project in the vicinity of a development linked to Donald Trump.
