The "Xhaçka" case, Bardhi-Spiropalit: You as Speaker of the Parliament throw the Constitutional Court in the wind
The Deputy of the Democratic Party, Gazment Bardhi, at the Conference of Speakers, has accused the Speaker of the Assembly, Elisa Spiropali, of not respecting the decisions of the Constitutional Court regarding the issue of the mandate of Deputy Olta Xhaçka.
" Mrs. President, you have personally ignored the decisions of the Constitutional Court. You are the second president to blow up this court, thus undermining coexistence with the opposition, " declared Bardhi.
According to Bardhi, the request for an opinion from the Venice Commission is an excuse to drag out the process and save Xhaçka's mandate with prolonged procedures. He also pointed out that Venice is an advisory body and has no binding effect, describing this action as government propaganda to hinder the work of the opposition.
" This practice, as if you are asking Venice, aims to save Xhaçka's mandate with procedures. For us, the individual is not important, as one Xhaçka leaves and another comes, but here it is about constitutional principles ," concluded Bardhi.
