The Democratic Party fully supports the demands of the farmers of Devolli and all of Albania. This is what the Department of Agriculture in DP declared today, after the morning protest by the farmers of the Korça area. 

"In the conditions when the Albanian farmer is 4 times less subsidized than his Kosovar brother, when the Albanian farmer was denied 146 million euros of IPARD III funding as a result of the corruption of the Ministry of Agriculture, when the food products that are imported into our country are 79% more expensive than in EU countries while agricultural products are poured down the drain, when Albanian children consume 13.2 tons of ice cream contaminated with ethylene oxide - a carcinogenic substance that seriously damages the health of Albanian consumers, protests until the removal of this irresponsible government it is the only way to free the market from government monopolies that are suffocating Albanian agriculture.

The Democratic Party has a detailed program for agriculture.

Starting from the first year of government, the budget for agriculture will be doubled, aiming for 70% of this amount to go to direct support for farmers in accordance with European standards.

The rate of VAT on sales will be equalized with that on purchases for the trading and processing sector of agricultural and livestock products.

Support schemes for farmers will be applied per production unit and per head and area.

The subsidy will be given directly to farmers based on the product put on the market justified by a tax invoice without bureaucratic procedures.

The democratic government will select an Agency that supports AZHBR in consolidating human capacities, procedures and programs to meet all reliability and accreditation standards for the absorption of IPARD III funds. A consulting unit of the counterpart Agency with a foreign co-head will be installed in AZHBR" , the statement said.
