DP: For 2 years, the "Tigers" of Balluk have been receiving €90,000 every day, and they still don't work
The Democratic Party of Vlora has denounced today the abuse of two TEC ships in the coastal city, which have been rented for two years by the Albanian Electric Power Corporation for energy production, but even today they have not yet been put into operation.
The leader of the Vlora Democrat Party, Atird Hoxha, stated from the Triport premises that for the two TEC ships, called "Tiger 1" and "Tiger 2", Albanian citizens have been paying a total of 90 thousand euros every day for two years and the cost so far has been around 73 million euros, according to him.
The Democratic Party considers these two TEC ships to be a serious abuse, an agreement shrouded in a lack of transparency and strong suspicions of corruption.
The DP addresses two questions to Minister Belinda Balluku about what millions of dollars are paid for from the state budget, for equipment that does not produce a single kilowatt of energy, and who benefits from these shady agreements that weigh on the backs of Albanian citizens.
Democrats call on the Supreme State Audit Office and the Prosecutor's Office to launch investigations and stop this scandal, bringing those responsible to justice.
Statement by the leader of the Democratic Party of Vlora, Atird Hoxha:
Dear citizens!
Today is World Anti-Corruption Day and we are here at Triport in Vlora to denounce a flagrant abuse of public money, in a purely corrupt affair.
The Albanian Electric Power Corporation continues to be a clear example of the misuse of Albanian taxpayers for corrupt and clientelist interests. Every day this company pays 60 thousand dollars to Excelerate Energy for these two TPPs that are behind our backs, which arrived in the city of Vlora more than two years ago, but which have not yet been put into operation.
As if this were not enough, KESH pays another 30 thousand dollars to the Italian company Renco, for these two TPPs, so there are a total of 90 thousand dollars every day, for a total amount spent so far, around 73 million euros.
This is a serious abuse, an agreement shrouded in a lack of transparency and strong suspicions of corruption.
Why are millions of dollars being paid from the state budget for equipment that doesn't produce a single kilowatt of energy?
Who benefits from these shady agreements that weigh on the backs of Albanian citizens?
These are questions that Belinda Balluku must answer immediately.
We are here today to call on the prosecution and the Supreme Audit Office to immediately investigate this clear corruption affair. The state budget cannot be allowed to serve to enrich a group of individuals at the expense of the public interest.
This scandal must stop, those responsible must be brought to justice, and public funds must be used for the benefit of citizens. We will not remain silent, we will pursue this matter to the end, demanding transparency, accountability, and of course justice.
