"National security is being compromised", DP calls on institutions: Launch investigations into KAYO and TIMAK Defence!

"National security is being compromised", DP calls on institutions:

The elected DP MP, Klevis Balliu, in a statement, denounced what is happening with Ardi Veliu's KAYO company and TIMAK. shpk.

He called on the country's institutions to investigate what is happening with KAYO and TIMAK DIFENSE, while emphasizing that national security is being compromised.

Balliu added that what makes the affair even more serious is the fact that just two weeks after the creation of these companies, KAYO intervened forcefully and in open violation of the law, disrespecting court decisions, to usurp the premises of News24 television, despite the fact that the latter had a contract valid until 2033.

Statement:

The Democratic Party strongly denounces a new and extremely serious corruption affair, which directly violates the country's national security.

In May 2024, Prime Minister Edi Rama created the company 'KAYO', appointing the infamous former director of the State Police, Ardi Veliu, as its head. By government decision, this company was given extraordinary powers to conclude contracts and negotiations with private companies in the field of the arms industry by government decision signed by Belinda Balluku.

One of the companies involved is TIMAC shpk, which has been personally promoted by Edi Rama himself. He has invited its owner, Ms. Arjeta Puca, on his podcast and has even visited her several times at the company's premises in Kashar. On June 17, 2025, Ms. Puca sold 49% of the shares of TIMAC shpk for only 490 euros to Edi Rama's close friend, Mr. Ron Yeffet, a name linked to several dubious financial affairs.

According to public sources and political evidence:

Mr. Yeffet was mentioned by the then Deputy Prime Minister as the person who sought to buy the debt, which was rejected by Mr. Arben Ahmetaj. He also attempted to buy the property of the Albanian Embassy in the US to build private residences, a project rejected by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

His name has also been linked to the Air Albania affair.

Furthermore, in Senegal, a deal he had with the government of the time was cancelled and he is being investigated for corruption by the new authorities.

Just a few weeks after this suspicious transaction, on August 4, 2025, KAYO co-founded with TIMAC shpk the company TIMAC Defence, where 80% is owned by TIMAC and 20% by Ardi Veliu's KAYO, with initial capital of only 35 thousand euros.

At the same time, on August 1, 2025, KAYO co-founded with the company MSSC (owned by Emiljano Dusha) the company MKD, Myslym Keta Defence, with administrator Gentian Karaj, where MSSC owns 80% and KAYO 20% of the shares, again with a minimum capital of 35 thousand euros.

Further, on August 1, 2025, KAYO and MSSC also founded the company GUNA Tactical, where MSSC owns 49% and KAYO 51% of the shares, with the same capital of 35 thousand euros.

What makes the affair even more serious is the fact that just two weeks after the creation of these companies, KAYO intervened forcefully and in open violation of the law, disregarding court decisions, to usurp the premises of News24 television, despite the fact that the latter had a contract valid until 2033.

All of these companies, with ridiculous capital, are alleged to be building the arms production industry in Albania, a project not only unprecedented in its absurdity, but also deeply dangerous due to the lack of transparency, legal criteria, and security guarantees.

As a result, several questions arise: According to what criteria were these companies selected?

Do these companies have security certificates and experience in the defense industry? How is it possible that half of a company is sold for only 490 euros? Who protects national interests in such a delicate process?

The Democratic Party calls on all state institutions, including judicial bodies, to:

Immediately launch a full and transparent investigation into this affair. Verify the legality, criteria and national security standards of the companies created. Stop any action that endangers the country's strategic assets and military properties.

This affair is not just a financial scandal. It is directly related to Albania's national security and the integrity of our institutions.

The Democratic Party will continue to pursue this issue until the end, in defense of the public interest and the country's security.
