An incident occurred today in the plenary session as the Speaker of the Parliament , Elisa Spiropali, was bluffed by Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku.

It was the opposition MP, Agron Shehaj, who requested an interpellation with Balluk about the Thumanë-Kashar axis, but Spiropali stated that the Government's number two was "abroad", but in fact she appeared a little later in the Assembly hall. This bluff by the Assembly leader also caused the opposition to be irritated, which launched harsh retorts with Spiropali for several hours.

Balluku-Spiropali clashes

The meeting of the Socialist Party Parliamentary Group a few weeks ago was much more tense than the official announcement distributed by the Socialists' press office indicated.

There were rumors in the media that there had been a strong clash between them.
Inside sources indicated that the meeting had taken the form of an open “trial” against Spiropali. Leading the criticism was Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku, who in harsh tones accused him of mismanaging last week’s plenary session, where the majority hastily introduced the draft law on the forgiveness of fines. Balluku accused Spiropali of favoring the opposition, giving it undeserved space and violating the rules of procedure.

Accusations of secret connections

Gazment Bardhi has often mentioned Pëllumb Gjoka’s name when publicly criticizing Elisa Spiropali, raising questions about the “gifts” she may have received from him. Although it is not clear whether Balluku had these accusations in mind when she attacked Spiropali, her insinuations further increased the tension in the meeting.

According to Lapsi.al, after Balluk, other important figures of the Socialist Party joined the attack. Taulant Balla, Erion Braçe and Blendi Klosi used the same language to express their dissatisfaction with Spiropali. However, there were also more subdued positions, such as that of Niko Peleshi and Mimi Kodheli, who preferred a more diplomatic approach.

Interestingly, Spiropali was absent from the meeting, which has raised suspicions that she may have known about what was happening behind the scenes and had chosen not to confront it.
