Athens continues the blockade, letter to the EU: No step for negotiations with

Greece continues to insist that it will not sign any further steps of Albania's integration into the European Union, without solving the Fredi Beleri issue.

"Prothothema" writes that Athens has submitted today to COREPER (Council of Permanent Representatives of EU Member States) an express reservation regarding the progress of Albania's membership process, making it clear that it will not give its consent for the progress of the negotiations without allowing Beler to be sworn in as mayor.

Greece did not accept the sending of the letter of the "27" for the opening of a series of Chapters at the starting point of the EU membership negotiations with Albania.

On December 4, the Tirana court will consider the request of Fredi Beleri to give him permission to take the oath while the normal trial will take place on the accusations of vote buying against him.

Athens, with the statements of Foreign Minister Giorgos Gerapetritis and the mission to Tirana of State Minister Stavros Papastavros, who visited Fredi Beleri in Durrës prison, has sent a clear message that it will use every means of pressure at its disposal, to overturned the decision to imprison Beler.
