With the signature of Prime Minister Edi Rama, the decision was published in the Official Gazette, paving the way for the opening of the competition for the new Director General of the Police.

The decision was made after the opposition protest where the safety of citizens was not guaranteed.

He is reported to have been dismissed on the orders of Prime Minister Edi Rama, a day after the State Police failed to ensure public order and peace.

Meanwhile, Sokol Bizhga has been appointed as the head of the State Police, who has held the position of Deputy Director General of the State Police since 2022.
