They forged documents, structured criminal group is hit, 6 arrested in Tirana

A criminal organization that forged foreign and Albanian documents with the aim of selling them has been busted.

Police have arrested 6 citizens in Tirana, from Albania and Kosovo.

During the operation, the following were seized: 3 American passports and 3 American ID cards; 2 passports, 2 ID cards and 1 Italian driving license; 1 passport and 1 English driving license; 1 Romanian driving license; 1 Albanian ID card.

"A structured criminal group, with members from Albania and Kosovo, that forged documents for the purpose of selling them, has been hit."

6 citizens are arrested. 15 documents, foreign and Albanian, suspected of being fake, as well as 7 cell phones and 1 motor vehicle are seized.

As a result of an intensive investigation, conducted with professional methods, by the Economic Crimes Section of the Tirana Police Department and the Joint Investigation Unit with the US, under the direction of the Tirana Prosecutor's Office, the police operation codenamed "Unit" was finalized in cooperation with the Directorate of the Special Operational Force.

As part of this operation, citizens KD, 35 years old, resident of Tirana, KG, 57 years old, resident of Prizren, and GL, 28 years old, resident of Kaçanik, were arrested in flagrante delicto. Citizens KD, 56 years old, LB, 58 years old, and ED, 20 years old, all three residents of Tirana, were also detained on their own initiative.

The investigation revealed that these citizens, organized as a group, forged various documents, with the aim of selling them to citizens who intended to move illegally to countries that require visas.

During this operation, the following were seized as material evidence:

-3 passports and 3 American ID cards;

-2 passports, 2 identity cards and 1 Italian driving license,

-1 passport and 1 English driving license;

-1 Romanian driving license;

-1 Albanian identity card.

Along with the suspected forged documents, 7 mobile phones and 1 motor vehicle were seized.

The procedural materials were referred to the Tirana Prosecutor's Office for further action, for the criminal offenses "Forgery of documents", "Forgery of identity cards, passports or visas" and "Assistance in illegal border crossing" , the police announced.
