House burns down, four brothers lose their lives in fire in Greece

A tragedy occurred on Sunday morning in Konica, Greece, where four members of the same family lost their lives as a result of a fire that engulfed their apartment.

According to Greek media reports, the flames broke out shortly before 07:00 in a container where four elderly siblings were living. After the intervention of the fire brigade, the bodies of a man and three women were found at the scene.

The victims, aged 69, 75, 83 and 88, had been living for about three decades in the container that was made available to them after the major earthquake that hit the Konica area. It was placed on their land, near the city bridge.

Residents of the area have indicated that the four elderly people lived in difficult economic conditions, without electricity supply and with frequent health problems.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the fire, with one of the main clues being that the flames may have been caused by a candle or oil lamp used for lighting. Meanwhile, social services had previously intervened to clean the environment where the family lived.

10 firefighters with five vehicles participated in the fire extinguishing operation, while Fire Department experts have launched investigations to fully clarify the circumstances of the incident.
