The Minister of Agriculture, Anila Denaj, spoke today regarding the law on the cultivation of cannabis for medical purposes in Albania.

The Minister explained that the areas were selected based on genuine studies and that the list does not include areas with developed agriculture such as the Myzeqe and Korça areas.

"This is following a legal change made 2 years ago. There are currently 10 cadastral zones that have been determined based on a study and these 10 zones are well-defined. They are throughout Albania, where the quality of the land is suitable, excluding areas with high agricultural intensity such as Myzeqeja and Korça."

The minister also announced today that the Council of Ministers approved the subsidy scheme for farmers and livestock breeders.

"Today we approved the decision for farmers and livestock breeders. The determination of the basic criteria and the amount of financing for all sectors that will be supported by the funds of the rural development program, in other words the subsidy scheme. This is an important year for Albanian agriculture, the subsidy scheme starts today", said the minister.
