Fiks Fare reveals the waste scandal in the "Skënderbeg" neighborhood of Lezha. The municipality's trucks unload waste there every day, the institution blames the employees.

The investigative show Fiks Fare broadcast this evening a disturbing case from the city of Lezha, where the "Skënderbeg" neighborhood has been turned into an illegal landfill for inert and urban waste.

The footage that has reached the editorial office of Fiksi shows trucks dumping waste in a large pit on the outskirts of the neighborhood, where in many cases the waste is also set on fire. According to a resident of the area, this happens every day. He says that the pits were created years ago by a brick factory that extracted soil, but were abandoned and are now being used to dump garbage. The resident says that they have filed complaints with the municipality and relevant institutions, but have not received any solution.

As soon as the Fix crew arrives at the site that has become a waste collection site, they see another truck with the municipality's logo unloading waste. The driver denies having received an order for this, but claims that residents of the surrounding areas also throw waste at that site. He says that mainly inert materials from construction are thrown away, but there have also been cases of tires. As for the plastic waste and the arson, he denies that they are related to the municipality's cleaning service.

Fiksi also goes to the brick factory to learn more about the use of the area, but the owner refuses to meet the journalists. The guard contacts them by phone, but in the end is ordered not to give out his personal number and does not give them any information about the contract the factory has for the territory in question.

In an attempt to get an answer, Fiksi journalists also go to the Municipality of Lezha. After more than an hour of waiting, they contact the mayor by phone, who denies that the waste is being dumped by order of the municipality. Meanwhile, the deputy mayor, in an interview for Fiks Fare, admits that there is an agreement to fill the area with inert materials, but describes the dumping of other waste as a “service error”. He says that they have been aware of the situation for a few days and that punitive measures will be taken against the responsible employees.

The journalists have officially requested a written agreement with the factory as well as the contract with the ministry, but so far they have not received any official documents, despite promises from the municipality. Top Channel
