Aranit Çela, former President of the Supreme Court during the communist period, passed away at the age of 98.
Cela was one of the most notorious prosecutors and judges of the communist regime. For his contribution to over 650 political processes, and numerous convictions for agitation and propaganda, or betrayal of the homeland, historians describe him as Vishinski of communism in Albania.
Because he was one of the most loyal people of the communist regime, Aranit Çela held high positions, as deputy head of the investigation branch, prosecutor, judge and MP of the Labor Party.
