Cakes with metal pieces have been sold in Albania, EU issues alarm: Remove them

The European Union's RASFF system, which enables immediate exchange of information, has notified Albanian authorities that sweets containing metal pieces have been imported into our country.

In the "Alert" category notification, it was announced that the product "Fruit Toffee" Mix 500g, originating from Morocco and with an expiration date of 26.04.2026, should be immediately removed from the market after pieces of metal were found in these sweets, which pose a serious risk to human health.

The presence of metal pieces was found by the manufacturing company during a self-inspection, which subsequently requested the withdrawal of this product from the market. “Ora News” television addressed the AKU with a request for information regarding this case. This institution informs us that the importing entity of the sweets is “World Wine shpk”.

After inspections carried out by AKU inspectors on the ground, with the aim of blocking the product, it turned out that the subjects had sold it and there was no longer any stock. What is striking in this case is that AKU gives the name of the sweets, which are packaged in 500 g, but does not publish any photos of the product that poses a risk if consumed.

In the absence of publication of the photos, we have asked this institution for information on why it does not inform citizens about these issues through its social networks. The AKU, which uses social networks only to show imaginary and real successes, exceeds its responsibility by stating that it made the announcement on the official AKU website.

The failure to publish these important announcements for consumers on the AKU's social networks raises questions about the transparency of this institution, which is paid for by our taxes to protect the health of citizens.
