Killed the Shqiponja operative, the Fier Prosecution closes the investigation

The Fier Prosecutor's Office has closed the investigations and sent Azgan Mrnica, who shot and killed police officer Novruz Cenalia, to trial.

The incident occurred a year ago, where Venalia, an Eagles operative, was shot by Mrnica, after a conflict over a passing vehicle.

"The Prosecutor's Office at the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction in Fier has completed the investigations and is sending citizen AM to trial for the criminal offenses of 'Murder of State Police employees', 'Unauthorized possession and production of weapons, explosive weapons and ammunition' and 'Irregular driving of vehicles', provided for by articles 79/b, 278 paragraph I and 291 of the Criminal Code.

From the investigations conducted on criminal proceedings no. 689, of 2024, based on the material referred by the Fier Local Police Directorate, it was proven that, on 13.05.2024, at around 13:30, in the village of Baltëz, Dërmenas Administrative Unit, Fier Municipality, the defendant AM shot and killed the State Police employee NC, who was wearing the "Eagle" Special Forces uniform, which made his status easily recognizable.

The conflict between the victim and the defendant arose because the latter, while driving his vehicle, entered a curve at speed, without checking the road, posing a danger to road users.

The victim drew the defendant's attention to this action, which is why the defendant stopped his vehicle, got out of it with the bag containing the firearm, and while walking towards the victim, who had not exited his vehicle, he took out the pistol-type firearm he was carrying and shot the victim NC in the face, causing his instant death.

"Furthermore, the Prosecutor's Office at the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction in Fier expresses its full commitment to the prompt investigation and legal accountability of persons who commit crimes against life and the authority of the state," the announcement states.
