The candidate of the Vetevendosje Movement wins Mitrovica

The candidate of the Vetëvendosje Movement, Faton Peci, has emerged victorious in the race for mayor of South Mitrovica, securing 53.53% of the votes.

His opponent from the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK), Arian Tahiri, received 46.47% of the vote, or 15,228 votes, according to preliminary results published by the Central Election Commission (CEC).

So far, 103 out of 105 polling stations have been counted, representing 98.10% of the counting process. Voter turnout in South Mitrovica was 38.68%, with a total of 32,770 citizens voting out of 84,715 registered.

After the victory, Faton Peci reacted on social media with a short message of thanks to the citizens:

“With humility, thank you Mitrovica!” he wrote.
The final results are expected to be certified by the CEC after reviewing any possible complaints from the political entities participating in the process.
