Osmani after the recognitions from Kenya and Sudan: We are entering a new phase

The President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, has stated that the process of international recognition of Kosovo's citizenship has been unblocked after a five-year period of stagnation. While participating in the Antalya Diplomatic Forum in Turkey, Osmani emphasized that in less than a month, Kosovo has received two new recognitions – from Kenya and most recently from Sudan.

In an interview with Radio Television of Kosovo (RTK), President Osmani assessed these developments as an important moment for Kosovo's diplomacy, emphasizing the weight that these recognitions have in the international context. "It is about two influential countries on the African continent and beyond," she said.

She added that, in addition to the new recognitions, Kosovo has also strengthened relations with countries that Serbia claimed had withdrawn recognition of independence. "Now, these countries have reaffirmed bilateral relations with Kosovo," Osmani said.

Speaking about the recognition process, the President emphasized that it requires long-term commitment and patience. "There are countries that we have worked with for over a decade to achieve recognition, and that makes every success even more significant," she said.

Regarding the internal discussions on the merits of these recognitions, Osmani stressed that "no one who takes this process seriously should personalize it", adding that these are successes of the people of Kosovo, of national sacrifice and of the joint work of institutions with international allies.

At the end of the interview, when asked about her political future, President Osmani said that "the future of individuals does not matter – the future of Kosovo is important". She confirmed her commitment to continue contributing to the service of the country.
