Britain renews financial support for Ukraine

The UK has paid the second tranche of a £2.26 billion ($2.64 billion) loan to Ukraine - funded by the proceeds of seized Russian assets - as Defence Secretary John Healey said the war was at a "critical moment".

"A payment worth 752 million pounds was sent to Ukraine today - through the Extraordinary Revenue Acceleration Scheme for Ukraine," the US Treasury Department said.

The first payment was made on March 6 and the final one will follow in 2026.

"2025 is a critical year for Ukraine and this is a critical moment," Healey said.

"The new tranche of funding is part of our £4.5 billion military support this year - it will be used to buy air equipment, artillery and urgently needed parts to help repair vehicles," she added.
