Diaspora gets involved in elections, Celibashi announces first vote from abroad

The Central Election Commission has announced the launch of the overseas voting process for the May 11, 2025 Elections. The news was made public by the head of the CEC, Ilirjan Celibashi, through a post on social networks, where he emphasized that the first citizen to vote is originally from Dibra and lives in Erlangen, Germany.

"Today, at 07:15, the first voter from abroad, residing in Erlangen, Germany and voting in the Dibër district, received his ballot from the Central Election Commission!" Celibashi writes.

He described this as an important step towards the inclusion of Albanian citizens living abroad in the democratic process.

Voting from abroad is one of the most discussed innovations of these elections, which aims to include thousands of Albanian emigrants scattered across Europe and beyond in decision-making.
