Trump imposes more tariffs on computer chips and pharmaceutical products

Donald Trump is not done with tariffs, focusing on computer chips and pharmaceutical products.

While Trump paused most of his biggest tariff hikes last week for 90 days - except for imports from China - he said he still plans tariffs on pharmaceuticals, lumber, copper and computer chips, Sky News writes.

Asked about his plans for more tariffs on pharmaceutical products, Trump said: "Yes, we will do that."

And that will be in the "not too distant future," he added.

"We're doing it because we want to produce our own products."

More than 70% of the materials used to manufacture drugs manufactured in the US are produced abroad, with India, the EU and China the main suppliers.

Meanwhile, the US produces about 20% of all pharmaceutical products produced worldwide, but consumes 45%, which is far more than any other country.
