Propaganda of a tragedy, the unhealed wounds of November 26; homeless families still at a crossroads

November 26, 2019. The powerful 6.4 magnitude earthquake with an epicenter 16 kilometers west-southwest of Mamurras hit Albania 4 years ago, killing 51 people and injuring over 3,000 others.

The cities hit were Durrësi, Thumana, Tirana and Lezha. At that time, the government promised that it would do its best to build the buildings and apartments destroyed by the earthquake.

4 years have passed and apart from Rama's government propaganda, the figures and facts gathered from the investigations speak the opposite of the television promises made by the prime minister for those affected by the November 26 tragedy.

7 families in Lezha without a roof

A look by Faktoje.al in Lezhë, one of the municipalities hit by the November 26 earthquake, showed that some families continue to be left without a roof over their heads. At least 7 such, declare that even though 4 years have passed since the tragedy, they do not have a shelter.

Building 71 on 'Luigj Gurakuqi' street was demolished two years ago, but the works for its reconstruction have not yet started. The process has remained hostage to the implementation of the reconstruction agreement by the Firdeus Foundation, as the parties have not reached an agreement.

The municipality of Lezha told Faktoje.al that the issue has been addressed to the government. After the earthquake, the damage assessment in this municipality reported 246 homeless families, including the residents of a three-story building in the center of Lezha.

Three months after the earthquake, the mayor Pjerin Ndreu promised the reconstruction of building 71 in the Besëlidhja neighborhood, and yet, the reconstruction has not yet started. Fajtorët fituan lirinë

Të gjithë ata që u arrestuan si fajtorë për shembjen e pallateve dhe banesave, nën akuzën e shpërdorimit të detyrës e deri tek vrasja për shkak të pakujdesisë, u lanë të lirë.
