A new era for The Weeknd, the singer will drop his stage name

Popular Canadian singer Abel Makkonen Tesfaye has performed under the stage name The Weeknd since 2009, won four Grammy Awards and sold over 75 million albums. In a new interview with W Magazine, the pop star revealed his plans to retire from his stage name.

"I'm getting ready to close the Weeknd chapter. I'm still going to make music, maybe like Abel, maybe like The Weeknd. But I still want to kill The Weeknd. And I will, after all. I'm definitely trying to pull this off skin and be born again. The album I'm working on right now is probably my last as The Weeknd. That's something I have to do. As The Weeknd, I've said everything I can say."

We remind you that recently the singer has introduced us to another great love of his, apart from music, which is coffee. The pop star for those of you who don't know was born in Toronto, Canada to immigrant parents from Ethiopia, a country known for its coffee tradition. The Weeknd created "Samra Origins", (Samra, as his mother's name is), to honor himself and her country of origin. In particular, the famous singer collaborated with Blue Bottle Coffee and created his own coffee brand to support his mother's hometown.
