Japanese trick offers a flat stomach and less back pain

The Japanese have long been known for their dedication to well-being, balancing spirituality with body care and showing a unique creativity in how they maintain physical and mental balance.

Instead of filling up gyms, they have often known how to use the simplest things they have at home to exercise. A typical example is the use of cotton towels as exercise equipment, believing that cotton, saturated with sun, water and minerals, brings positive effects on health when it comes into contact with the body. It is from this philosophy that a technique called the “five-minute towel trick” was born, which is gaining popularity for its simple and effective way of use.

The exercise was developed by Dr. Toshiki Fukutsuji, a Japanese reflexology and massage expert, who more than a decade ago claimed that this method improves posture, reduces belly fat, strengthens back muscles and relieves lower back pain. According to him, excess fat deposits in the abdominal area are often associated with irregular positioning of the pelvic floor muscles, and through this exercise, the pelvic positioning is gradually corrected, helping the body lose excess fat. Beyond the aesthetic effects, this method is said to improve blood circulation, digestion and create a stronger sense of balance in the body.

How is the exercise carried out?

For best results, experts suggest a clear routine:

• Lie down on a hard surface, like the floor.

• Place a rolled towel horizontally under your lower back.

• Stretch your arms up, above your head, so that your little fingers touch each other.

• Turn your feet inward, making your big toes touch each other.

• Relax and stay in this position for five minutes.
